He is a part of the the Nurse family line and in keeping with the family profession is a Pokémon Doctor who runs a Pokémon Center in the outskirts of Cerulean City. His partner, unlike the most Nurse Joy, is a Skarmory who originally belonged to his wife.

He is the younger brother of the Nurse Joy who lives in Petalburg City and is the cousin of the Nurse Joy who lives in Cerulean City.
